Noticed a lazy bit of editing on opening my copy of John Ashdown-Hill's
biography of Clarence. In the Edward III family tree the Black Prince's
son became Richard III!
Also if anyone is interested, there is a house for sale that backs onto
the castle at Middleham, while the castle [or rather English Heritage]
is also looking for someone to take care of the site!
Before you all rush, remember that Middleham is a very small community,
and is a long drive from any large shops and social amenities!
I almost bought a cottage opposite Barnard Castle recently, but managed
to resist. [btw I still think Barnard was Richard's favourite home
rather than Middleham, and anyone who has sat in the window seat beneath
his boar badge and looked at the view will know why!]

Hi Paul, I have to say that I'm struggling with JAH's concept of George the Short. How do we know that the drawings in the Rolls are to scale? And wouldn't someone have mentioned that he was a little upstart - you know, they were very quick to point out that Napoleon, Nelson, Charles I were all shot? And then when they exhumed his daughter Margaret last century, she was confirmed as being a tall woman. Now I know two short people can produce a tall offspring but........ H
