Re view from Barnard...Can Paul possibly provide us with a photo snapshot of the view from Barnard Castle and the windowseat beneath the Boar badge, as Richard may have experienced it? Most of us wont be fortunate in our lifetimes to Visit England again, and we are hearing about these treasure and not seeing them. CarolD

Sandra..what a beautiful window that is and it's very easy to picture Richard and Anne sitting there. That is why Kenilworth is one of my favourite castles...the parts that John of Gaunt built are magnificent with massive and wonderful windows still with their tracery intact. Also remains of little wash basins in the stonework outside the bedrooms...how very hygienic...:0)

It's Paul you should thank, Eileen. He wrote of it and I went looking for a picture. But yes, it is truly beautiful. In a way it makes me think of Goodrich Castle and the Wye, but without the town. Thank you Paul!....Goodrich Castle...now your talking!..it has the complete Wow factor...that long, winding path leading to it that so many must have travelled along...horses, carriages,,,and then you come across those massive, massive walls.,,just completely awesome...and if course the added fact that Eleanor Talbot would have lived within those walls at some time in her life.
