RE: Folk tale...Could someone please give the full text for the Folk Tale...Babes in the Wood. I am intrigued by the line of thought that the 2 Princes were in someway taken to Epping Forest, since this has been discussed by another Forum member. I do also like the Dening story through a medium, of the fates of the Princes. We all have our favorite lines of thought, and Ive never eliminated any one, because it seemed too weird. CarolD

Hi Carol, the folk legend itself hasn't been written down, but the 'Babes in the Wood' story as it entered the popular imagination was from the 1595 ballad by Thomas Millington:http://www.gutenberg.org/files/19361/19361-h/19361-h.htm
And I don't actually know if that's Millington's text, or somebody else's version of it, as the authorship is given as 'anonymous'!
How frustrating that we don't have access to any original versions of the legend. But the association with Wayland Wood and Griston Hall has apparently endured for centuries.
