Has anyone else received this

An e-mail I received today-- It's me, Philip. I'm stranded in Italy, I misplaced my luggage that contains my passport and credit cards on a trip to Italy. I know this may sound odd but it all happen very fast, I'm short of funds to pay for a new passport fees and other miscellaneous expenses. I did speak to my bank, but it would take 5 working days to access funds from my account. Please can you lend me some funds? I get those from time to time, it is a SCAM! His email has been hacked.

It's the first time I've received one quite like that. All sorts of others,
but not purporting to be from someone I know.

It's a spoof AJ. It's usually when a virus has invaded someone's mail. It happened to my husband; we had loads of folks he'd written to ringing us up or writing to me asking if he really was stranded overseas. Caught you!!! Many thanks for that great write-up on Tewkesbury. What really begins to worry me (and I know it's inevitable) is that there are so many cashing in on Richard by rattling off the odd article which sounds like a cross between wiki (where they do at least quote sources) and the sort of history books that were produced post-war; assumptions quoted as fact with no acknowledgement to the historians, or dubious sources, from which they got it all. And before long they'll be interviewed on TV as 'experts'. Some of the stuff on R3 Facebook is beginning to go that way.
