Film on UK Yesterday channel ltoday called "Secrets of the Tower' had me
anticipating anger when the usual nonsensical tales of Richard and
"those poor boys" got trawled out again. To my surprise there was not a
word!
However, there was a new mystery. Telling how, when they were installing
some new underground heating in the chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, more
than 1500 skeletal remains were discovered.
Yes, 1500!
Most were apparently unidentifiable, though one is believed to be Anne
Boleyn.
Why was not explained.
On the plaque that is above the door to the room in which they were
reinterred is a list of possible owners, including Thomas More, Thomas
Cromwell, Catherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey, and Margaret Plantagenet
[Clarence] Countess of Salisbury.
I imagine, thanks to John Ashdown Hill they would now be able to
identify Margaret's remains and rebury her respectfully. Will they though?
And I would love to know who else is there!
Paul

That's astonishing, Paul. I had never stopped to think what happened to the remains after execution. Imagine though, 1500 in one place. How awful. Do we wonder if John of Gloucester and Warwick are there too? Sandra =^..^= From: mailto: Sent: Thursday, May 15, 2014 2:44 PM To: RichardIIISociety forum Subject: Tower

Was this Bloody Tales of the Tower with Suzannah Lipscombe on Channel 5? The latest episode is still on the Channel 5 player, but I can't find the first one. If it is something else, do you know where I could catch a rerun?

No that is a totally different series that in one episode deals with the Princes legend in the usual biased, badly informed way. They are done in a journalistic manner. Originally shown on Satellite, National Geographical channel I think.
The programme I refer to was on Yesterday channel, which the BBC used to own up to, but these days I'm not sure. One of a number of channels that call themselves UKTV.
