August 22nd the blackest day of all

I shall be in mourning all this weekend as we reach Sunday's
anniversary of the blackest day in all supporters of Richard the
Third's diaries.
Let us remember Richard especially, but also all those who kept the
faith, dying with him as he was betrayed and murdered by a scum of
Bretons and traitors, under a usurper who had no real legal or moral
right to the throne Richard sat on.
Amongst them John Howard, Duke of Norfolk, Sir Richard Ratcliffe, Sir
Robert Brackenbury, Sir Robert Percy, John Kenyon, and many many
others, loyal to the last.
Reflect on how the world might have looked had Richard won, as you
remember the dead.
Paul

you're never too old to launch your dreams

Etc. Being a more prosaic sort, I can't match Paul's eloquence on this
occasion. I can on the other hand report that the American Branch's annual
"in memoriam" homepage is up effective today and will remain so through
the end of August.

Thanks to Branch member Peggy Allen, who has masterminded the changeover
to a more robust server, our online memorial page is back after a year of
being nonfunctional. Visitors to http://www.r3.org/ can select the
Bosworth link and then "add your tribute" from the Bosworth main page.
From there it's just a matter of following the instructions.

Thanks are also due to American Branch member Maria Torres, who has placed
the Branch's annual ad in the New York Times. We follow the Society's
style in this, since it is a dignified announcement unlikely to get us
thrown out of the inmemoriams as we and everybody else were some years
ago.

Finally, I should mention our gratitude to the American Branch chapters
and individual members who place in memoriam notices in their local
newspapers year after year at their own expense. This is indeed, as former
Branch chair Morris McGee used to say, Ricardian loyalty of the best kind.
