Looks a bit old doesn't he Sandra (Richard not the artist)? Still good to see that others are so interested they'll do things like this. H

Hilary, I think he looks badly in need of a course of rhubarb. Richard, not the artist! <g> I hope it's the angle of the photograph that's not doing the work any favours. But yes, agreed about the interest. Sandra =^..^= From: mailto: Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2014 9:44 AM To: Subject: Re: Another new portrait of Richard

I'm just waiting for someone to say he's been aged Aussie style - you know, that bit too much sun? As one who once lived there I can say that with impunity. H

Hmm, I'm not sure if I like it or not. It could be the angle, but Richard seems off, if you know what I mean. And perhaps a bit too old. I like the brightness of it all, though, and the sharpness.

Richard doesn't need rhubarb, he's got worms!

Sorry!

I think it might be quite a good painting, we need to see it face on really.
Anyway, good on him to the artist.

Hi Gilda,

As English is not my native tongue I unfortunately don't know what " Richard seems off" means.

And Sandra,

What means "in need of a course of rhubarb"?
Please tell me, for I wish to know your oppinion about this picture!
I have my reservations. I wonder why Richard always must wear the same dress and this Tudor cap, that
seems to get bigger with every depiction of Richard. At least he does not put a ring on oddly distorted fingers this time.
And I am very happy that Tom Denny does not paint a naturalistic picture of Richard on his glass windows for Leicester Cathedral!

Hi Eva. Rhubarb is a time-honoured laxative, known here for centuries and centuries (and I imagine where you are too), so I'm saying that in this new portrait, the expression on Richard's face makes me think (humorously) that he looks constipated. The portrait may look much better when viewed full on. I hope it does. Agree about the hat, though. It's growing before our eyes! <g> Sandra =^..^= From: mailto: Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2014 8:39 PM To: Subject: Re: Another new portrait of Richard

Hi Eva,
I meant that his portrait seems not quite right, "off" of what would appear correct. Hope that helps. :-)

Carol responds:

Bad camera angle, I think. Richard also looks out of proportion (his hat is too big, for one, shades of Lewis Carroll's Wonderland characters), and that's not the case with the artist's other paintings of Richard.
