Edward IV aand poison

It is interesting how this possibility keeps coming up about
Edward IV being poisoned. Several years ago there was a discussion
on one of the R III groups about a reference in one of Dumas' novels
about a French plot to poison Edward (masterminded by the Spider
king!!) Could this tie in with the current line?
I can see where the French would like to get rid of Edward since
they were payng that big pension to Edward that was negotiated to
avoid a war. I suppose disgruntled courtiers in England could have
been involved. It had something to do with a tainted shipment of
French wine.....
Anyway, conspiracy theories abound and this is a juicy one. It
could explain Richard's reaction and summary execution of Hastings
and others. And it is a great hook on which to hang a novel!
