This is another review of the Visitor Centre, and is refreshing because there is no Tudor' criticism of Richard. None of the old lies make an appearance, not even the princes' in the Tower. There are some good photographs too. Thank you Graham Young and the Birmingham Mail. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/family-kids-news/days-out-face-to-face-richard-iii-7726758 Sandra =^..^=

It was good to have a clear view of the eyes -- nice and blue-grey, or so it would seem.

Hi Sandra, I am not a fan of the partial reconstruction...enough to give one nightmares and not how I want Richard to be identified or remembered by/as...sorry not for me . Kathryn x

Sorry you don't agree...we shall have to differ....I personally prefer to see the complete reconstruction or portraits of him....to me he having been a person and an anointed Sovereign King of England,( Ireland and Wales as far as he was concerned too) I would much rather he be remembered as a human being and not a parcel of bones the images of which are to be trotted out at any excuse.....gross doesn't come close....

Re: Not one bad word....
Sandra,
If we are supposed to be protecting his reputation and how he is perceived through the written word I do not see any difference with that of visual imagery.....Since the remains were discovered all we have seen apart from the initial interest with the reconstruction have been Richard's skeleton in situ or in various scientific poses... I was interested in what you had written about the comment concerning the VC. To be confronted with the partial reconstruction as a way of Introduction left me cold. I do think we have to decide what we want to be our abiding memory/memories of Richard III and to me this is not it.....and my 3 year old grand daughter wouldn't either.

Carol responds:
Nice review in that it doesn't criticize Richard, but it also neglects to mention the objectionable features of the center. "The centre was commissioned by Leicester City Council, and is run by an independent trust of experts in business, finance, and heritage / visitor attractions," says the reviewer. That explains everything.
I didn't see any courtyard or cafe when I was there just a month ago. If I had, my sister and I would not have had to go looking for an uncrowded restaurant in Leicester and ended up at KFC!
BTW, what does "swizz" mean? "Glitch," maybe?

Thanks for the definition, Sandra. So the author of the review thinks it's a "swizz" that you can't see the bones in situ in the excavated grave (though the hologram is a "brilliant" substitute)? I don't know what to say.
