Queens' College Cambridge and Richard
Queens' College Cambridge and Richard

My daughter is spending a year at Queens' and last night ate in formal Hall.
On the back of the menu was info on the College which acknowledged the great debt it owed to the patronage of King Richard III and how in recognition of this they have his boar's head in the centre of their badge. It went on to say that the Tudors had tried, unsuccessfully, to expunge all this and that the College had suffered significantly because they withdrew their support and went elsewhere - MB to found her own place at John's and Henry VIII Trinity. It had therefore been through the years much poorer than most other Cambridge colleges because of the Tudors.
So, as Paul would say, Richard liveth yet. In one Cambridge College at least. :) H
