I was wondering if Thomas and/or William Stanley were actually trained
as knights in their childhoods.
If so, would the traditional knights' code or oath of chivalry
(entailing justice, loyalty, faith, and humility) have meant anything
to either Stanley (or any of their retainers) at *any* time in their
lives, or was that sort of honor an unrealistic deat thing even before
Richard took the throne?
They obviously didn't think much of the oath of homage they swore to
Richard as king, which makes me wonder how they might have regarded
the code of chivalry. Them being nobles, after all.
