Thanks for your welcome. I now have time to do some research, but have also
moved to France, which makes it difficult, apart from the internet, at the
moment. I will have to pop over for a weekend break some time. What is the
IHR? or am I being dense.

John has facinated me since I was a child and it would be good to know a bit
more about him!

Regards

C

IHR = Institute of Historical Research, Senate House, London
University. It is probably the biggest History library in the world!
Every book and article you can imagine and a mile's walk from the BM
library where all the primary documents are. It's my first port of
call for most research projects. A little difficult to pop to from
France, mind you! (Which bit? We are planning to move there in next
2 years.)

HI there

Thanks for that. i did find it when it occurred to me to type ihr into a
search engine. Will have to have a trip over.

We live on the Vendýe/Deux Sevres boarders and have done for 2 years. We
came over to buy a holiday home and ended up working for the estate agents,
as we are in our early 40's and not ready to retire. It is a lovely part of
France, hills, flat marshland, coast, near enough to air ports and ferries
and we are in the same Micro climate as La Rochelle, so, in theory, short,
bright winters and long, warm summers. This year though, some one forgot!
Never mind. The rain at the moment is good for the farmers.

Regards

Caryn
