Anyone going to Leicester next week?

I was very pleased to hear that Paul got a ticket to the ceremony :) But is anyone else going to Leicester at all next week? If so, what are you planning to do there?

I didn't get a ticket to any of the ceremonies, of course, but I'd decided all along that I must go to Leicester for this historic occasion, and go to Leicester I shall. (Even if it means having to conquer my fear of flying.) I'm going on Monday - doing a day trip from London, where I'm staying for a few days. I won't be able to visit the battlefield, so the only purpose of this trip is to pay my respects, really& and naturally I'll be taking a look at the Visitor Centre& but if anyone has any tips for other things to do and see in Leicester, I'm all ears.

(I was actually hoping to try my luck at getting a seat in the Holy Cross Priory Church for the Requiem Mass, but alas, they seem to have changed it into an invitation-only event as well.)

I am leaving for England tomorrow.
I also got a ticket for the service at the Cathederal on Monday! I usually never win anything, so I am very pleased and honored to be able to attend ths service.
Further plans are a meeting of the Continental Group on Tuesday and looking at the Visitor Centre on Wednesday (I have asked my husband to keep me from trying to distroy facial recreation)
On Saturday I would like to go the Catheral again, when it is finally open to the public.
And I think we will make trips to sites outside Leicester too.

Jan here. I'm coming up on Sunday 22nd & once I'm there after a drive of 3 1/2 hours I'll be pounding pavements! Maybe I'll see some of you in a crowd round a big screen or at the buffet at 12.30 on Monday or in one of the concerts. I shan't be at the Visitor Centre on Wednesday as I plan to be at the Battlefield Centre & I'm getting the buses. What a week it will be!Safe journey to all you travellers & may the technology not let the viewers down....

Oh, Eva, I'm so jealous! It all sounds so amazing :)
I hope you'll both have a great trip, Eva and Jan - pity I can't come to the buffet to meet fellow Ricardians.

If you are going to be here (Leicester) on Monday, it might be worthwhile checking at the Holiday Inn around 11:30 am. The RIII Society's secretaries will be handing out tickets to the Society events (buffet - 2 sittings, special Cathederal service, tours of Visitor's Center and Middleham requieum) for members from other countries. They would know if there had been cancellations by any of the people who won ballots for those events. I'm sure there is a waiting list .... but those people may not have come to Leicester. There are also other events around town - one I know is a panel by the Historical Novel Society where there may have been last minute cancellations. Good luck -- and I think it's worth it just to be here.
