Starkey had the gall to sneer (long-distance, via a video link) about lady novelists. I willed someone on the studio couch to reply that at least they only wrote fiction, whereas he believed it. =^..^=

I blame those who keep giving him air time...I think its disrespectful on a day like today when the focus should be on the ceremonies of laying Richard to rest once again. Everyone knows what he is going to say...again, and again and again...the same old, same old...Eileen

Jon Snow kept shutting him up, I noticed...then it turned out that the Snows could trace their line back to Edward III, Edward IV and John of Gaunt in between. So he was on Richard's side! (With a bit of Stanley on the way, but we won't mention that). I don't know if he had been pro-Richard before his heritage came to light. But yes, the Ricardian loon remark was stupidly waspish. By the end of the programme Philippa L looked as if she'd been tearing her hair every time she was off camera. Don't blame her. What an a-sehole Starkey is. Just don't let him spoil an incredible day. He truly isn't worth it! And methinks his TV career won't last much longer after those remarks - pity it wasn't on the BBC. But what a day ..... H

Great pity his parents hadn't slapped him rather more frequently, and taught him that good manners cost nothing! I just love his logic - all other usurpers killed their predecessor so that is proof that Richard killed the princes....... .? Is it that he isn't capable of basic critical reasoning or merely that in his colossal arrogance he can't be bothered?

I find that those who have an "opinion" which cannot actually conform to facts, rather than speak softly, reach louder decibels, seemingly to simply over tower with noise!

It seemed to me that it was his colossal arrogance.
He is highly intelligent, and was there to put the anti Richard case.
He didn't really do that effectively, but just ranted and looked rude and out of step.
There are many excellent historians who think that Richard may well have had his nephews killed, Dr Michael Jones and David Hipshon to name two who could have made a reasoned case.
As it was we just got Starkey looking like an idiot.
I suppose it makes "good TV" but it doesn't lend a single jot of information to all those of us who were moved beyond measure by yesterdays wonderful events.

Don't worry about him. My daughter, who is not into this at all, said that she had seen a bit of Sunday's discussion and 'who was that funny objectionable man, Simon Schama?' Sorry Simon! David - your PR obviously hasn't worked. H
