New Recruits for Richard
New Recruits for Richard

Hello all!
Last Monday I was invited to speak at my local high school in four
world history class on the middle ages/renaissance. I am also a member
of the Society for Creative Anachronism and the period I chose to
study is the life and times of our favorite gentleman. In the Society
I am know as Baroness Deirdre Wydeville (no relation!)
You have no idea how much of a kick it is to get a room full of 15-16
year olds chanting "Henry Tudor was a usurping, Welsh, mama's boy".
Perhaps I had an effect on the prior programming these kids had been
subjected to.

Bravo to you! I have always believed that the children must be aware
of the truth before any change can be affected.

I shall have to try to get my classmates in on that chant. I've tried to get some of my friends into Richard, but only one has really latched on. The others all think I have a bad case of pseudonecrophilia.

Oh I do indeed! I had my 17 yr old A level students find him not
guilty 13 out of 13, and today 2 announced that a boy at the grammar
referred to our hero as a "t**t" and they put him very straight.
Sounds like they flattened him physically as well as metaphorically!
The girls all roared approval. Another for Richard!

I'm working on getting them to read The Sunne in Splendour, because that's one of the few revisionist novels who treat him as a human being, rather than just denying the Tudor chroniclers and insisting he was practically saintly.
