Greetings Fellow Ricardians
Hail and wele met. Yes, it's January and Fair time in Florida. The
weather's warm (or warmer), the foliage is green and we can promise lots of
sunshine, solar or liquid as the vagaries of weather may choose.
Central Florida members of the Society would like to announce and invite
everyone to visit our approved booth dedicated to Richard and the Society at
the Hoggetowne Medieval Fair near Gainesville Florida beginning at the end of
this month. The Fair will run Saturday and Sunday, January 29-30 and again on
February 5-6 from 10 AM to 6 PM each day. Friday, February 4th, "School Day,"
is dedicated to area students, when the fair hours will be 9 AM to 4 PM.
The City of Gainesville Office of Cultural Affairs is hosting the event
and the fair will take place at the Alachua County Fairgrounds.
The fairgrounds are next to the Gainesville Regional Airport on SR 222.
If you are driving, From I-75 northern most Gainesville exit - Exit 390. Head
east, follow signs to Gainesville Regional Airport. The fairgrounds are located
on the left, right before the airport.
Details on the fair and our booth location can be found at their website:
http://gvlculturalaffairs.org/website/medieval_index. You may note the
standard piercing the letter O in the logo. Clearly the presence of the Whyte Boar
is congenial.
Once again, we have a wonderful opportunity to reach the fair going
public with the message and achievements of the Society. In addition to lots of
discussion of our favorite topics. Our bold amateur troupe of musicians, The
Wyndes of Tyme, will play historical recorder melodies. Naturally, a good time and
fine fellowship is a major part of the fair experience and a priority for our
booth.
Thus, if you can come or are in the North Central Florida area during
that time, we hope you will visit us.
If you are interested in participating, we would very much welcome your
assistance.
Perhaps we'll see you at the fair.
Regards,
Virginia
