Channel 5: "Britain's Greatest Monarchs"

Channel 5: "Britain's Greatest Monarchs"

Stephen Lark
is on Monday, 20:00 to 21:30.
I understand that our Richard is one of the finalists. Can someone find a weblink so that we can all vote for him, now or during the programme? I had a go but cannot locate one.

Found this, which you may have done too. No website yet, but I'll
keep trying. If I can't find one I'll use my contacts.

Sorry, Paul, the Forum removed it. You could try adding it as a file or private mailing me so I can do it.
Remember, none of Richard's rivals on the night have mass membership Societies like he does because none of them inspire the same passion!

Hello Lark
I will but it sounds to me as if the panel will do the deciding,
unless it is one of those phone in NOW things. A 90 minute discussion
by mainly politicians will not show up any real surprises, but I'm
calling the production company in the morning so will let you all
know if there is a public vote.

OK all. There is NO web site or vote. The public were asked to vote
about 6 months ago apparently. None of us noticed so it can't have
been very well publicised, or else we all chose to ignore it!
This evening's programme is a chat show to discuss the results.
There are some "reconstructions" but is mainly chat.
Straight from the production company.

Poor Richard, receiving a measly 18 points. Still he never stood a
chance, as the commentary was really loaded against him, what with
references to killing his brother, his wife and committing incest that
no serious historian believes in anymore.

Anne Sutton didn't make a particularly strong case, which was needed in
the face of that, but I did think it had been cut down to soundbites
and she didn't have the time necessary to explain what we as Ricardians
or even non-Ricardian familiar with the period know.

If I'm honest, Richard couldn't be the greatest monarch because he lost
Bosworth and his reign was too short for him to prove himself, even
though he had potential. I didn't mind Elizabeth I winning, because
I'm a woman.
