It was Gairdner, the Victorian anti-Richardian who gave out the story that Richard
imprisoned the Countess of Warwick for life (I wonder what Anne would have had to say
about that?)And who is he quoting - none other than Rous - the very turncoat and
timeserver who In Richards lifetime described him in such glowing terms and after
Bosworth doctored the copy of the Rous Roll that remained in his hands. Anything that
Rous has to say about Richard after Henry Tudor usurped the throne can safely be treated
as a lie (well in my opinion anyway).
