I'm still struggling to trace the partition of the FitzAlan estates,
particularly the old Warenne castles of Acre, Reigate and Lewes.
All castle references insist on ignoring the post Warenne era, merely
claiming that the piles "fell into ruin" and therefore are of no more
interest.
The 3 heirs would appear to have been John Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk,
Richard Beauchamp, Lord Bergavenney and Sir Rowland Lenthal.
The Mowbrays certainly inherited the other main Warenne castle of Holt,
but the others are proving elusive.

Thanks for the link, but the Warenne-FitzAlan castle of Holt was in
the Welsh marcher Lordship of Bromfield and Yale. I've establshed
the Mowbray's inheritance of this Lordship, so it's Reigate, Lewes
and Acre I need to know about next.
