Mortimer's Cross
Mortimer's Cross

Today the 2nd February is the anniversary of the Yorkist victory at
Mortimer's Cross.
Edward of York saw the 3 suns that were to become his emblem, and
shortly afterwards he executed Owen Tudor who was captured fleeing the
field where he had fought for Lancaster.
Shame he didn't get the whole family!
But let's remember those who died on that day in 1461.

Yes lets remember them - a few years ago I stayed at a cottage close to where the battle
was fought - there is a huge mound in the fields with some trees growing on top which is
said to be the burial mound - got as close as I could and stood there thinking of how it
must have been that day - it was very poignant - also just up the road from there a little
cottage called Blue Mantle Cottage
