I've posted a file listing al persons taking part in the Bosworth
campaign. I'd be grateful if anyone could point out any errors or
omissions in the list.

That is truly a labor of love, and extremely useful. Many people will
thank you, starting with me.

I'm sorry I haven't said thanks for this before - it's a great resource.

I'd like to be able to print it off to compare with some bios I've been
creating recently, to see if I can add anything at all. But I'm
computer-dumb and I only get a blank page.

The only comments I have at present are:
1) Surprised to see Sir James Tyrrell in Lancastrian red. Is this
something I didn't know?
2) Sir Christopher Mallory of Studley. Did you get this from Hutton? I
believe Hutton gives a Sir Christopher Mallory.
However, I've been looking through the records in recent months for
Mallorys and have never come across this Sir Christopher. The head of
the Studley branch in 1485 was Sir William Malory, son of John Malory &
Isabel Hamerton. He was born about 1458 and died in 1499 leaving as his
heir his son John. I suppose Sir Christopher may have been a younger
brother, but I do wonder if Hutton might just have got the name wrong.
3) Those Babingtons. I can't find all my notes on this, but John
Babington of Dethick definitely died fighting for Richard at Bosworth.
I think Sir John Babington of Chilwell, who was a cousin, may have been
on Henry's side because I seem to recall that the Dethick branch lost
their lands and Henry then granted these to their Chilwell cousins. I
think the Chilwell John may be the one who, according to the
Inquisitions Post Mortem, died on 20 March 1501/2 leaving as his heir
his widowed sister Ethelneda Delfes (the index to Harley 433 says he
died in 1501, which just illustrates the previous discussion).
However, I don't seem to have kept my notes on the fortunes of the two
branches after Bosworth so I can't be sure.

Thanks for this input. I've posted a new version of the file with
some corrections, including those you pointed out. There are 1 or 2
additions, including yet another Stanley.
The main base I used for the file was:

http://richard111.com/roll_call_of_the_battle_of_boswo.htm

This lists a Christopher Mallory but, as you say, this may be a
mistake. The Ballad of Bosworth field lists many more names, but
it's often difficult to identify them due to the indifferent spelling
of English before the 19th century.
I also noticed a reference to Brackenbury turning round and attacking
Richard, but since he was killed in the battle it's difficult to be
sure - was he attainted afterwards?

BP

P.S. There shouldn't be a problem printing out the file - try saving
it to disc first. You may have to reduce the column widths to print
each entry on one page
