Many thanks:
Hopefully, in a few years I will have a few bucks to sink into these
types of courses. I always thought I would spend my retirement years
doing totally impractical things, and so I shall.

This sounds very similar to the course I did with the IHR (Institute
of Historical Research) a few years ago and I can highly recommend
it. I would imagine that this is the new improved version of the
course I did as it is strikingly similar and is also run by the
School of Advanced Study (of which the IHR is a member). The tutors
on the course were very open to discussions and answering questions,
and tailored the course around students' personal interests.

PS thank you to Marie for making me feel welcome. I am enjoying the
banter very much!
