No More Bad Guys

We're rapidly running out of bad guys. Here's a blog dealing with the
rehabilitation of Edward II.

Can John and Richard II be far off?

BTW: One of the good guys is going down. There is some conjecture that
Edward the Confessor was a bit of a tyrant. Can't remember where I saw
this one, but it was recent. He probably was at least a tad insufferable.

Edward the Confessor has long been known as being a far from saintly
person. In fact the portrayal of Macbeth is more like the Confessor
than the real Macbeth, who was more like the saintly Confessor of
legend. John has for some time had his admirers, myself included, for
without him the laws of his father Henry II would not have been put
into practice. Don't foget that the history of John's reign were
written by clerics, and John's arguments with the church were many.

I am indeed. Have been interested in Edward for about fifty years now. I
read both of Paul Doherty's books on the subject, and am looking forward
to the books by Weir and Mortimer. Right now I've got about a dozen
books on Richard III to plough through.

It is certainly time we looked afresh upon our heritage. There are so
many new methodological approaches we can use in our investigations.
