Where do I start? It was fantastic and I shall have more to say during
the week.

Yes, mostly.

FRIDAY: Started from Ipswich but there were Essex people already on
the coach. A quick stop at Cambridge and arrived at York 15:00.
As I had visited all the medieval and later bits 30 years ago with my
primary school, I planned to visit Jorvik, which was not then built.
but 90 minutes was insufficient to walk to this and visit it so I
tried the R3 Museum instead - interesting and different. Proceeded to
our base in Middlesborough. A showery day but only when we were in
the coach!

SATURDAY: Filey first and then Scarborough. Only 6 miles apart but
such a downpour at Filey that we returned to Scarborough early. Made
straight for the Castle - very good if not enough about TS. We had
4h40 in Scarborough - nice weather and one brief shower.

SUNDAY: Travelled to Whitby - visited the Abbey (good) and then had
lunch in 3 hour stop. Returned home via Peterborough. Again, just the
odd shower.

Scarborough Castle and Whitby Abbey are both National Trust
properties with free audio tours. When visiting the Castle, dial 21
to hear about the Pilgrimage of Grace and 1557 invasion.
