Hi,
I've not read "The Seventh Son", but I can recommend a couple of pro-
Richard novels. Firstly, The Sunne in Splendour" by Sharon Penman is
the one that started it all off for me - I have bought numerous
copies over teh years, either as gifts or to replace the copies I
have lost by forgetting who I have loaned it to!! It still makes me
cry. You may also enjoy two books by Rosemary Hawley Jarman - "The
Kings Grey Mare" (about Edward IV + Elizabeth Woodville) and "We
Speak No Treason" (about Richard). "Daughter of Time", by Josephine
Tey is a classic, but the style it is written in is a bit old
fashioned. Unlike the others it is not a novelisation of R's life,
but a modern investigation of his death... more of a study of the
arguments in the traditionalist vs revisionist debate.
Hope you find something in this lot that you like :)

Sorry Lynda, "We Speak No Treason" is by Rhoda Edwards, and imho, the best
and most moving novel about Richard I have ever read. She also wrote another
called "Fortune's Wheel" about his earlier life. Rosemary Hawley Jarman
wrote "The King's Grey Mare" about Elizabeth Woodville, and another novel
about Perkin Warbeck, which i loved when I read it, but the title of which
now escapes me!

Well isn't that bizzare! I have my copy of the book in front of me,
and the authors name on the cover is Rosemary Hawley Jarman!! either
the two authors are the same person, or there are 2 different books
by the same name.
Seems like another excuse to spend the morning surfing the web...
looking for the solution to this mystery ;)

Rhoda Edwards wrote 'Some Touch of Pity' - also very moving in parts.

You seem to have missed my apology for a misreading of the original post.
Rhoda Edwards wrote "Some Touch of Pity' the most moving of all novels about
Richard. Rosemary Hawley Jarman did indeed write We Speak No Treason came
out earlier and was well liked, although I preferred her later book about
Perken Warbeck "Courts of Illusion".
Sorry for the confusion
