Hi all,
Was anyone here at the conference yesterday at Market Bosworth which was run by The Richard III foundation? If so, I'm sure that like me you will agree it was excellent!
It was titled "War and Society in the 15th Century"
I arrived early and was greeted by the American organisors and given my entrance pack and badge. As I entered, the first person I saw was Graham Turner with a large selecton of his paintings and prints. I would like that original Towton painting but at £7500 I'll stick with my print! Those good lads from the Towton Battlefield Society had a stall as did the Lance & Longbow society.
There were about 50 people present for the conference which was just right for the size of the venue.
I really enjoyed all the talks which were:-
Arrangements for defence of the Anglo-Scottish border during the 15th Century by Jackson Webster Armstrong
The Paston Family and the Wars of the Roses by Dr Helen Castor
Fighting "Fulle Manly" - The Wars of the Roses in Gregorys Chronicle by Peter Santuiste
Owen Glyn Dwrs Revolt and Henry V's war by Professor Ralph Griffiths
Draw Archers Draw by Robert Hardy
It was a really enjoyable day and I got my copy of "The Great Warbow" signed by Robert Hardy.
Next years conference is on Sept 27th at Market Bosworth. Well worth attending!.
Oggie.
