After eight episodes shown in the UK out of ten, Henry VIII is still trying to extricate himself from his first marriage - we all know what that means...........

Another series. Ouch.

I watched the first episode and half of the second. That was quite enough for me. I haven`t watched it since. Obviously I`m not missing anything

As you know, I am from Ipswich so I am enjoying Sam Neill's casting as Wolsey.

PS The forum calendar has James IV receiving "Warbeck" today in 1485 not 1495.

PPS I have a problem with the "Start new Topic" button - it has started to take me to the Yahoo home page. Anyone else?

i just did 8 days in hospital with a nasty sciatica attack. the tv room is majority rule. so i caught the tudor's season finale and associated promotions. they promised season 2 in 2008.

now on the upside being alienated from my computer allowed me to get somewhat caught up on my r3 reading..i got thru 3 and 3/4 books.

yes, even read weir's princes in the tower. i'm flabbergasted at the promo she's given on the dust jacket. this woman is no valid historian. although she is billed as one. i picked up ONE clue/lead in her whole book...page 180 or thereabouts. i still need to make written notes. i did find it interesting that elizabeth mowbray nee talbot, sister of eleanor, a mary tyrrell, and another woman or two were all in the same nunnery in their golden years. weir couldn't even get that clear, you know. mary tyrrell, according to weir must be a sister or cousin of james tyrrell.

ummm. perhaps mary's surname is her married name, ergo no blood kin to sir james...oh well part of my research to get caught up on once i can sit for my "regular" marathon of hours at the computer.

i've also been reading caroline halsteads r3/v1. halstead wrote in the 1840's. anyhow, she's great with notes/sources etc. at one point she was "discussing" the death of h6. it was quite detailed info, lasting several pages. halstead gives the answer as to who killed h6, only she doesn't realise it, or doesn't want to make the logical conjecture.

paraphrased below is the logical conclusion as to who murdered h6.
halstead, citing contempory chronicles, and documents states richard, and lord scales aka "anthony or richard" woodville are both at the tower the night h6 died.
(i'm writing from the top of my head here, i'll make sure later or someone else can jump in and provide the correct forename for lord scales).

additionally, e4's council approved h6's assassination states halstead. she continues on citing assorted info, and finally states that about 30 years after the fact:
the rumour regarding h6's death was that "richard stikked henry 6 to death with a dagger". ..taadaa folks..say rivers and richard 3 times fast. the answer is.. rivers stikked h6 to death.

lord scales is aka lord rivers who also is elizabeth woodville's brother. lord rivers was doing e4's bidding via a council decision. lord rivers was also protecting his very young nephew, e5's future throne. rivers had as much, if not more reason to ensure h6 did not live, than richard did. rivers was working to ensure the woodville bloodline would secure the throne...eventually.

richard's need to kill h6 for "ambitious purposes" (so sayth weir incessently) was significantly negated by the birth of his nephew e5. the line of succession was at the time. e5, then clarence, and possibly clarence's son..(can't remember if clarence's son was born yet..and i'm too lazy to look it up right now, that and the painkillers tend to eat away at my ability to focus).

so, here's hoping this info was somewhat coherent...that's about it for now. amazing how history can get twisted about..and then we are faced with a whole knew generation being slapped in the face with the twisted garbage..of the very popular "tudors" tv series. nauseating...and almost as painful as sciatica.

have fun..i'll pop back in when i sit longer.

Clarence's son Edward of Warwick wasn't born until 1475.

I enjoyed "Points of View" this afternoon and the anachronisms in
whole "Tydders" series included:

Iron railings,
A Victorian-style carriage,
Electrical sockets,
Peasants with wristwatches and
A king in elasticated, monogrammed underwear.

PS For non-UK residents, this is the BBC's main feedback programme,
fifteen minutes a week for most of the year.
