A play about Richard III by Maxwell Anderson? Who knew? My wife, Carol
Burtin Fripp, was in the same amateur dramatic group as Allan Anderson,
Maxwell's grandson. The families lived just about side by side on a
winding rural road called South Mountain Road, near New City, New York.
Allan Anderson later became an administrator of cultural institutions,
one of which was the Art Gallery of Ontario, here in Toronto. To
paraphrase the Bard, his tenure was improved by his leaving of it.

Further to Carol Burtin Fripp: Her father, the New York-based designer
Will Burtin, is the subject of a new book "Design and Science: the life
and work of Will Burtin" (Lund Humphries, London). I am co-author with
the professor of design at the Rochester Institute of Technology, across
Lake Ontario. Interested people can find a great review by the British
design writer, Rick Poynor, at

A number of people wrote to me about "Dark Sovereign". Sorry I haven't
replied yet, but fully intend to get around to that. In the meantime,
thank you all for your interest in "Dark Sovereign."
