A real treat for us in the UK next week, when BBC4 kicks off a series
about the Medieval Mind (Thursday). There are a lot of other Medieval
History programmes and films to accompany the season. Not all are
good, for one is about the robin Hod legend, unfortunately hosted by
Jonathan Ross. So he'll be going around telling the trees in Sherwood
how he once won a sword fight against somebody famous etc! Maybe a
little of Robin will sneak into the show, but I doubt it. I'll grit
my teeth and try to watch it!
Stephen Fry is presenting a programme about the printing press which
promises to be interesting, and will doubtless include Caxton and our
man Richard!
There is a rare showing of the movie version of Anouilh's play
Becket, and Terry Jones marvellous series on the Crusades is getting
a repeat.
Something to look forward to.
If any of you in the USA have multi region players I can do a dvd of
anything you might want to see. Just let me know.
