Greetings from Florida

In 1183 Richard III's older brother, Henry, died and Richard III becomes heir to the throne! But he decides to take up the cross and go on a crusade instead, which leaves his brother John in charge of the kingdom.

Now why would the heir to the throne (Richard III) risk his life in battle in a cause that was beginning to lose support? The first Crusade was in 1096 --

How could nine Templars maintain order and protect anyone over thousands of miles?

How was it that the Templars could cross jurisdictional lines across England and Europe without challenge?

It's answered in one line - the Templars were offering immortality

Richard III was after immortality when he followed the Templars on a Crusade in the 12th century AD

You have your Richards mixed up. Otherwise, sounds like you have a
good plot for a Da Vinci Code-type book. But I don't think this is
the correct forum for it.

To coin a phrase, "quite remarkable", given that Richard III lived
from 1452-85.

I strongly suspect that you mean Richard I but you seem to be
streching for a link anyway - supernatural conspiracy theories about
the Templars who were not terribly relevant to Britain.
